Miss World 2007 Zhang Zilin makes her feature film debut in action blockbuster sequel 'Underdog Knight 2'. The film follows the continuing adventures of Navy officer turned vigilante Lao San (actor Liu Ye, reprising his role), who fights to protect a national treasure from being stolen by criminals during an exhibition, with Zilin, the female lead, playing his girlfriend, kidnapped by the gang.
Zilin joined the cast and crew for the film's trailer launch in Beijing earlier this month, and this week they were reunited again as they attended premieres in both Beijing and Shanghai. At the Beijing premiere, Zilin commented on how it was a time to celebrate, as it was not only the first time in her life to attend the premiere of a film she starred in, but that it was also lead Liu Ye's birthday, and her own birthday the day before that. The director Ding Sheng explained he wanted her for the part because her charm and beauty contrasted well with the tough guy roles of the four male leads. The cast have also praised Zilin's debut performance, with director Sheng saying: "She played the role very well, and will definitely impress the audience."
'Underdog Knight 2' is released in cinemas across China on 1st April.
